Glossary of Terms Dynamic Links - Dynamic links are inbound links from websites whereby the page is dynamically generated via a database query. It is the opposite to static pages - static pages are stored on a web server for search engines to spider whenever they want. With Bright SEO we use a mixture of Dynamic & Static links. Google Sitemap - A google sitemap is an XML document that is loaded on to your web sever - this file is then registered with google to help the search engine spider find your website & content. HTML - Hyper text markup language - This is the code that websites are generally written in (similar to all word documents being .doc) - We actually write our webistes in XHTML - which is just an updated form of HTML that is more versatile across multiple platforms. Inbound Links - Inbound links means that a website that is external to you provides a hyperlink to your website. Off Page SEO - Off Page SEO is when inbound links are provided from authority sites, when an authority site in your industry segment links to your site search engines give your site a higher ranking (why would an authority website link to a bad site) On Page Optimisation - On Page optimisation is when you update the acutal HTML code that the website is written in to make it easier for search engines to find the content that a website is relevant for. Organic Search Results - Organic search results are the results that appear for free in the search engine results. You can see with most results pages that they will have 2-3 ads at the top and ads running down the right side - these are non organic results. Organic results are the other page links & descriptions that you will see on the pages. Search Engine Spider - A search engine spider is an automated program that 'spiders' through websites to find the location of good quality content. Search Engine Optimisation - See SEO below SEO - SEO is the abbreviated term for Search Engine Optimisation - this is the act of enhancing web pages so that search engine spiders can more easily find the content that which it provides. Static Page Links - Static page links are considered the best type of inbound link - there are generally 2 types of inbound links 1. Dynamic & 2. Static. Inbound links are required for good off page SEO XML - Existensible Markup Language - A type of mark up language that many different types of platforms can support - ie computer, mobile, PDA, smartphone. Yahoo URL List - A Yahoo URL list is very similar to a Google Sitemap - it simply tells the Yahoo search engine spider about your website and it's content.
